This is a quick video guide for those couples looking to get Married in Ireland

It can be challenging for a couple to navigate all the bits they need for the wedding.

If you have any questions even if I'm not the one marrying you! drop me an email for impartial advise.

So you want to get married!

Here is a brief run through of the requirements for a legal wedding in Ireland

You need to provide a minimum of three months' notice to a Registrar at a local HSE Civil Registration Service to receive a Marriage Registration Form (MRF) but the earlier the better!

You will then get an in-person appointment at the registry office.

You will need to have –

·         Valid passports or national ID cards (EU citizens)

·         Original birth certificates and certified English translations if not in English/Irish

·         Proof of address (such as utility bills or bank statements dated within the last three months)

·         If previously married, divorce decree or death certificate of former spouse

·         PPS numbers (if resident in Ireland)

·         Details of proposed ceremony (date, location, celebrant's name)

·         Names and dates of birth of two witnesses (must be over 18 years old)

There are three types of legal ceremony

·         Civil      – Performed by a HSE registrar

·         Secular – Performed by a Celebrant from the Humanist Association of Ireland

·         Religious – All other organisations that can legally marry you are registered as religious regardless of the ceremony content.

You bring your “Green Folder” on the day your Celebrant the Couple and the two witnesses sign and you return it to the HSE registry office  within 30 days.

Congratulations to all of you getting #marriedbypcb in 2026 and beyond!

Pat.
